The Things You Want to Know.....
At Groom, we believe skincare should feel simple, intuitive and honest. This page answers the real questions people ask about natural skincare, facial oils, sensitive skin and simple routines without jargon, hype or over complication. Whether you’re new to natural skincare or looking to simplify your routine, you’ll find clear answers here.
What is natural skincare?
Natural skincare uses ingredients derived from plants and nature rather than synthetic chemicals. Groom products are made using plant based oils and essential oils, without water, fillers or artificial fragrance.
Is natural skincare better for sensitive skin?
Natural skincare will generally be gentler, especially when formulas are simple and water free. Products with fewer ingredients and no harsh detergents are often better tolerated by sensitive or reactive skin.
What does water-free skincare mean?
Water-free skincare does not use water as a base. Instead, it uses pure oils and botanical ingredients. This creates a more concentrated product and reduces the need for preservatives.
Why doesn’t Groom use water in skincare?
Water is often added to bulk out products. By avoiding water, Groom keeps formulas simple, concentrated and multi-purpose, allowing each ingredient to actively support the skin.
Can oil-based skincare clog pores?
Not all oils clog pores. Many plant oils are non-comedogenic, meaning they do not block pores. When chosen correctly, oils can help balance oily, dry or combination skin.
Is oil-based skincare suitable for acne-prone skin?
Yes, when the oils are lightweight and well formulated. Oil based skincare can support the skin barrier and help regulate excess oil production rather than strip the skin.
What is a simple skincare routine?
A simple skincare routine focuses on doing less, but better:
1.Cleanse
2.Apply a serum
3.Seal with a balm
This supports the skin’s natural balance instead of overwhelming it.
Why is simple skincare better?
Overloading the skin with too many products can disrupt its natural function. Simple routines help the skin do what it’s designed to do: protect, repair and renew itself.
Can I use the same skincare morning and night?
Yes. Skin benefits from consistency. Using the same gentle products morning and night helps maintain balance and long term skin health.
Are Groom products suitable for all ages?
Yes. Groom skincare is designed to be gentle, multi-purpose and uncomplicated, making it suitable for teenagers, adults and mature skin.
Are essential oils safe in skincare?
Essential oils are safe when used at low, carefully balanced concentrations. They provide natural scent and botanical benefits without synthetic fragrance or perfume.
Does natural skincare work as well as conventional skincare?
Yes. Skin responds well to ingredients it recognises. Consistent use of high quality plant oils can support hydration, barrier repair and overall skin health.
What is minimalist skincare?
Minimalist skincare focuses on fewer products that do more. Groom products are designed to replace multiple steps in a routine, making skincare simpler and more sustainable.
Can Groom skincare be used on the face and body?
Yes. Groom products are multi-use and designed to work wherever skin needs nourishment.
Is natural skincare better for the environment?
Water free, multi use skincare typically uses fewer resources, less packaging and produces less waste, making it a more sustainable choice.
What makes Groom skincare different?
Groom skincare is built around simple, plant based, multi purpose products that respect both skin and lifestyle. Everything is designed to do more, with less. Also who knows skin better than a facialist hey!
Is Groom suitable for professional facials?
Yes. Groom products are often used by facialists who value oil based massage, skin barrier support and simple, adaptable routines.
How long does it take to see results from natural skincare?
Skin typically responds within weeks. Long term improvements come from consistency rather than quick fixes.
Can men and women use the same skincare?
Yes. Skin is skin. Groom products are gender neutral and designed for all faces.
Does natural skincare expire faster?
Water-free products often have a longer shelf life because they don’t support bacterial growth in the same way water-based products do. All of my products have been tested for longevity and have a 3 year shelf life when unopened.
Is Groom cruelty-free?
Yes. Groom does not test on animals.
Where is Groom skincare made?
Groom products are thoughtfully made in small batches with care and intention in our laboratory in Essex, England.
What is a natural facial?
A natural facial uses gentle techniques, oil based massage and plant ingredients to support circulation, relaxation and skin health without harsh exfoliation or chemicals. Ancient ingredients and methods are also included such as 24k Gold and pure Silver.
Why are facial oils used in facials?
Facial oils allow hands to glide over the skin without pulling. They support the skin barrier, encourage lymphatic drainage and leave skin nourished rather than stripped.
Are facial oils suitable for all skin types?
Yes. Different oils suit different skin needs, but most skin types benefit from oil when the formula is balanced and lightweight.
Can facial oils replace creams?
Yes. Facial oils can often replace creams, especially in water free routines. Oils help seal in moisture and support the skin’s natural lipid barrier.
How often should I use facial oils?
Facial oils can be used daily, morning and night, depending on your skin’s needs.
Do natural facials help ageing skin?
Natural facials support circulation, skin barrier function and relaxation, which all contribute to healthier looking skin over time.
Why do facialists choose oil based products?
Oil based products are versatile, long lasting, and adaptable during treatments, making them ideal for professional use.
Does water in natural skincare actually do anything for the skin?
Water itself doesn’t actively nourish the skin when it’s used in skincare products.
What is the role of water in skincare products?
Water is mainly used as a carrier ingredient. It helps spread a product easily and creates a lighter texture, but it doesn’t provide long-term skin benefits on its own.
Does water hydrate the skin?
Water can make skin feel hydrated temporarily, but it evaporates quickly. True skin hydration comes from supporting the skin barrier, which helps prevent moisture loss rather than simply adding water.
Can water dry the skin out?
Water itself isn’t harmful, but when it evaporates from the skin it can increase moisture loss if it isn’t sealed in. This is why skin can feel tight after cleansing with heavy water % products.
Why do water based products need preservatives?
Water creates an environment where bacteria can grow. Because of this, water based skincare products require preservatives and stabilisers to remain safe and shelf-stable.
Are preservatives bad for the skin?
Preservatives are not inherently bad, but they add complexity to formulas. For some people, especially those with sensitive or reactive skin, simpler formulations will be better tolerated.
What ingredients actually support skin health?
Skin benefits most from ingredients that support its natural structure, including:
Plant oils that mimic the skin’s natural lipids such a squalane.
Ingredients that reduce moisture loss such as jojoba oil and beeswax.
These help maintain balance rather than forcing change.
Why do oil based products feel more nourishing?
Plant oils support the skin barrier and help lock in existing moisture. This often results in skin feeling calmer, more comfortable and more resilient over time.
Is water ever useful in skincare?
Yes. Water plays a role in cleansing and rinsing away debris.
Why does Groom choose to be water free?
Groom products are water free by design to keep formulations simple, concentrated and skin supportive. By focusing on plant based oils, the range supports the skin barrier rather than relying on water as a filler.
her than forcing change. Facial oils play a central role in this approach, helping nourish, protect and rebalance the skin.

If this is not possible, then the Booking Fee Cancellation Policy will apply.
If I have Dermaplaning in my facial will it hurt?
The answer to this is No. I know when you think about it a surgical scalpel is being used so in theory probably should hurt but, when the treatment is carried out by a professional the blade is held at just the right angle to achieve the perfect pain free finish.
Will I get a beard from Dermaplaning?
Again No! The hair that is removed is vellus hair so will not grow back any different to what you already had. The only thing that changes a hair follicle is hormones. If by removing Vellus hair it made it grow back thicker then hair transplants wouldn't have been invented :)
If I wanted a different exfoliation option, is that possible?
Yes. With all of my facials there are two options for exfoliation. As we know, exfoliation is a very important part of cellular skin renewal which is why it is imperative within a facial treatment. I offer Dermaplaning or a scrub mask and peel option. You can always decide at the time of the treatment which option you would prefer.
How does it work picking a treatment from the list?
I offer 2 facials, The Essential and The Everything, all of my facials are bespoke. It is always good to have an idea of which facial you would like to book, especially if you have a specific concern or budget. As every person’s skin is so different, I tailor your experience around this.
I am Pregnant...
Great news you can have Dermaplaning in your facial if you wish. This facial will be tailored to you and your skin's needs. Your hormones may be playing havoc, so this is where I step in. You can you start your pregnancy facial journey once you are 12 weeks along and I will need a letter of consent from your doctor to treat you so please obtain this before your facial experience.
I am a Man.....
Also good news!! You can also benefit from my facial and my skincare range too. Men get a great result from all of my treatments.
Do you sell Vouchers?
Yes I do. You can buy a voucher for either of the Groom facials or I offer £20 vouchers too. Please either email me michelle@groom.world or you can DM on Instagram, my handle is @groom.world
